Analysis Of The Book The Night - 1444 Words

Asteria was on the final few pages of the chapter when a particular sub-heading caught her attention – constellations. Her eyes scan down to the page, stopping when they find a small diagram of Orion’s belt. It was the constellation her mother had been named after and it was tattooed across her lower back. She begins to trace her fingers over the constellation as her thoughts drift back to her early life on the Ark. The seven year old was growing sleepier by the second as she sat snuggled in her mothers lap, her eyes fluttering shut as her mother continued to brush a hand through her hair. Before sleep completely consumed her, she remembered what Raven had told her earlier that day. Are you a goddess too?† Asteria had asked, turning back around to look at her mother, who had been watching her with that same fond smile on her face. â€Å"My name actually comes from the story of a boy.† Asteria had giggled at that, â€Å"Tell me the story!† She’d gushed, eager to learn more about not only her family but also Greek mythology. â€Å"There’s a constellation among the stars, one that we can’t see from the Ark, it’s called Orion’s belt. In Greek mythology, there’s a story of Orion, who was a well-known hunter, in fact, he proclaimed himself to be the greatest hunter in the world. But this didn’t sit well, with Hera, who was the Queen of the Gods and the wife of Zeus. She believed Orion posed a threat to the gods and sought a way to destroy him.â€Å" â€Å"What did she do?† Asteria had asked as her patience wavered. â€Å"She had a scorpion kill him, now, Orion’s father, Poseidon loved his son and had begged Zeus to save him, however there was nothing he could do.
